Public Hearing and Open House

at the PV Memorial Hall to discuss the Intermunicipal Development Plan and the Intermunicipal Collaborative Framework. This is for Village residents. Following, there will be a Open House at 7:00p.m. hosted by Kings Energy Group to discuss and answer any questions about the cardlock fuel station. This is open to EVERYONE! We hope to see you there!

Message from the Mayor
The Village Council had a meeting with King’s Energy Group regarding the under-use of the cardlock in the Village. They raised some very significant points, and we did our best to convey to them the challenges we see. Personally, I have very much enjoyed the convenience of having fuel in the Village.  As we have seen over the years, businesses in the Village only survive if they are utilized.  The following issues were discussed.

  1. The personal application form is not user friendly. Kings Energy Group was not aware that the form was causing some reluctance and they are prepared to modify the form or help anyone who would like to get the card. Application forms are available at the Village Office and Jim or Alicia will help you fill it out. Kings is also willing to work with all new applicants to establish credit for new fuel accounts.
  2. Kings Energy Group recognizes that corporations already have fuel providers and are happy with the service. Kings also recognizes that delivered fuel volumes that are a result of the Village facility, will contribute to the economics of it. However Kings is also concerned that without the support of local businesses, both on the use of the cardlock facility and delivered fuel, the economics of the facility will not be viable and there is a risk of it closing. Kings is not asking for 100% of the local market but would like the opportunity to supply even a portion of your fuel, cardlock or delivered, as they are the only ones who have made the commitment to the area.
  3. Both the Village Council and King’s Energy Group were wondering about individuals who work in our Community but purchase their fuel elsewhere. We were hoping to elicit their support for Paradise Valley by convincing them to purchase fuel here.
  4. Point of Sale fuel was discussed. We have heard from people in the Community that they would use the cardlock if they could use their debit or credit card. In order to do this, extra security would have to be installed, and the cost of buying and maintaining this equipment would be cost prohibitive at this time due to lower than expected usage of the facility. However, keep in mind that with a Kings card, you can opt to automatically have charges debited from your account every 10 days. Alternatively, the charges can automatically be made to a credit card.
  5. There seems to be some concern about how the billing system works. The cost of your fuel will either be debited from your account or charged to your credit card every ten days, not the once a month idea that seems to be floating around in some parts of the Community. Please call Kings at 780-875-2266 if you require further clarification.

King’s Energy Group is doing their best to make this work for our Community. To this end, they will come out again Thursday, March 12th, 2020 at 7:00p.m. at the PV Memorial Hall to answer your questions. Please consider coming out and hearing their presentation. For those of you who have lived in PV long enough, you will remember how upsetting it was when UFA pulled out leaving us without fuel. Kings Energy Group is the only company that has approached the Village and put in the investment dollars to make this work. If they pull out, it might be decades again before the opportunity arises.
